MCP Server Documentation
The Stockpulse Model Context Protocol (MCP) server lets AI assistants connect directly to our social sentiment, news, and market data. It is designed for use with Claude and is available straight from Claude’s built-in connector listing, so there is nothing to install or self-host.
Because it follows the open MCP standard, the server can also be used with other MCP-capable assistants such as ChatGPT and similar tools. The steps below focus on Claude, where the integration is most seamless, but the same OAuth connection applies wherever you add a custom MCP server.
This page covers everything you need to get started: how to connect, what the server can do, and what to check if something is not working.
Setup
The Stockpulse MCP server is listed as a connector inside Claude and uses OAuth for authentication, so connecting takes only a few clicks.
- Open Claude (web or desktop) and go to your Connectors / Settings area.
- Find Stockpulse in the connector listing and choose Add / Connect.
- You will be redirected to the Stockpulse login. Sign in with your existing Stockpulse platform account and approve access.
- Once authorized, Claude returns to your conversation with the Stockpulse tools enabled.
That’s it. There are no API keys to copy, no configuration files to edit, and no local server to run. Authentication is handled entirely through OAuth using your Stockpulse platform credentials.
Requirement: You need an active Stockpulse account to authorize the connection. If you do not have one yet, you can start a free trial on the Stockpulse platform or contact us to get access.
Available Tools
Once connected, the assistant can call the Stockpulse tools on your behalf whenever they are relevant to your prompt. In general, the server gives the assistant access to:
- Social sentiment data: real-time and historical sentiment and buzz signals across stocks, cryptocurrencies, and other asset classes.
- News and discussion insights: trending topics, key events, and the drivers behind market conversations.
- Market and reference data: supporting information used to put sentiment into context.
You do not need to memorize tool names or parameters. Just describe what you want in plain language (for example, “What’s the social sentiment on Samsung this week?”) and the assistant selects the appropriate tool automatically.
The complete, always up-to-date list of available tools, including their exact names and descriptions, is shown directly inside your assistant under the Stockpulse connector, so it always reflects the current capabilities of the server.
Troubleshooting
Because the connection runs through your assistant’s connector and OAuth, most issues come down to authentication. If the Stockpulse tools stop responding or your assistant reports that it cannot reach Stockpulse:
- Check your Stockpulse login. Open the Stockpulse platform and confirm you can still log in. The platform is the OAuth provider for the MCP connection, so if your login no longer works, the connector cannot authenticate either.
- Reconnect the connector. Remove the Stockpulse connector in your assistant and add it again to trigger a fresh OAuth authorization.
- Confirm your account is active. Make sure your Stockpulse subscription and access are still valid.
If you can log in to the Stockpulse platform but the connector still fails after reconnecting, please reach out to us and we’ll help you get back up and running.
